Beth Bordner, Finance and Operations Director, is responsible for leading The Sierra Fund’s financial management, operations, and human resources. Beth might be a familiar name to our Sierra Fund family – she was formerly our Finance and Operations Manager from 2016 to 2020. Beth is returning to us after a few years working for our partners and friends at conservation finance start-up Blue Forest Conservation setting up their financial and HR systems. We are thrilled to have Beth back on our team. This New England native is an outdoor enthusiast and lifelong equestrian. A fun fact about Beth? She can count to ten in Sinhala (the main language spoken in Sri Lanka).

Syd Godfrey, Project Coordinator, is the newest member of our team, and has dug right into co-planning and implementing forest health, restoration, and remediation projects with our program team to increase the number of restored meadows, mines, and forests in the Sierra. He is currently earning his M.S. degree at Chico State in Wildland Management with a focus on fire management planning and beneficial fire use – as a big proponent of beneficial fire on the landscape he is even found using his free time to assist local burn associations with prescribed fire. A fun fact about Syd? He was once bitten by a monkey in Ubud, Bali. We’ve certainly got some world travelers on our team.

We recently welcomed Beth and Syd at a staff retreat where our staff got to discuss our programs and spend a day and a half in each other’s company working on team building. Check out our latest full-staff photo below – where we are all wearing silly hats we made for one another!
