The Sierra Fund (TSF) is pleased to congratulate Carrie Monohan as she moves full-time to Mooretown Rancheria of Maidu Indians of California to serve as their first Director of Natural Resources.

After 15 years of terrific work – expect an entire blog soon highlighting the incredible contributions benefiting the Sierra Nevada that Carrie led while at The Sierra Fund. We are very grateful for her outstanding leadership within the organization. And we hope you join us in congratulating her on this next exciting phase of her work. Carrie’s last day on staff with TSF is at the end of April. We will continue to partner very closely with Carrie and Mooretown Rancheria on a number of projects in TSF’s Forest and Watershed Resiliency program and Hydraulic Mine Restoration. We expect a continued powerful partnership. Carrie will also serve as the first chair of TSF’s Science and Innovation Advisory Group providing thought leadership and technical assistance to advise TSF’s programs and projects. Stay tuned – we plan to invite you all to a shindig celebration in honor of Carrie and her great contributions to The Sierra Fund and Sierra this summer!

And Welcome Mark Preiss (pronounced ‘price’) as the new Program Director! Mark was the Vice President of Zion National Park Forever Project and a past chair of Public Lands Alliance among other impressive career positions. He has established award-winning programs in conservation, restoration, and environmental education. He has also successfully planned and led projects with 45 diverse private/public/tribal stakeholders, and raised millions to launch and sustain conservation efforts. His track record indicates he is particularly adept at building, piloting, testing, and innovating model projects and programs. We are very excited to have him join the leadership of The Sierra Fund.
